H.O.P.E. is our service organization that our students take part in every year. We participate in various activities almost every week throughout the year.
On a consistent basis, we serve our neighbors in Spring Branch each week, all year. We volunteer at The Branch, a local church’s after-school homework and tutoring program, Our students help the kids with their homework, and then play basketball or games with them. Over the years, we have been blessed to have built wonderful relationships with the children! Every Christmas since 2013, our families provide Christmas for over 30 students, and we especially enjoy helping with a Christmas party for the kids and being Santa Claus.
On a monthly basis, we participate in other volunteer activities on a scheduled Saturday. For example, we have made cards for the sick and elderly on Valentine’s Day, participated in National Public Lands Day in which we cleaned up Hermann Park, and have even gone to Galveston to help clean the beaches after the hurricane. We love to clean up stuff and help with the environment!
We participated in Military Week by making cards for our troops and worked at the Christmas Store, which provided gifts and food for needy families during the holiday season. We also help out with a local women’s shelter, organize pumpkins and provide lots of help at the Pumpkin Patch. And get involved with odd jobs that we find during the year. We are especially happy to help our students with their Eagle Scout projects. Service is important to our school and to our hearts.
If you know of a someone that we can help, call us! We always want to have a go-to list to keep the recipient’s spirits up, and our own as well!
We are so grateful to be able to help others. Role-modeling and facilitating ways in which each child can develop and maintain an attitude of gratitude is one of the most important things we can do for and with our students.
